OUR

MINISTRIES

There is a place for you in one of our many ministries.  We are all called to service and are bestowed talents to minister to our fellow believers and the entire world. Whether it be ministering to the widows and orphans, visiting the sick, teaching children, giving to missions, providing meals, using your hands to build, or even simply praying, you are a needed part of the body of Christ. We pray that FPC is a place where YOU can be the hands and feet of Jesus.

"Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you

is a part of it." 1 Corinthians 12:27

Outreach

The Outreach Ministry has recently revamped their cause and made the commitment to Step Up and Step Out in service to our community. We are currently involved in volunteering at the local homeless shelters, nursing homes, the Care Center, and the Senior Center with Meals on Wheels and supports our Parent's Day Out Program as well. Recently we have begun sponsoring Gibbs Elementary throughout the year with book drives, reading volunteers, teacher appreciation, teacher supply drives and much more; as well as sponsoring Huntsville's homeless with the Double Up Kids program.

As you can see, there is no shortage of places to help and lend your talents! We are all called to be the hands and feet of Jesus; what a great way to live that out in your own community. See Beckie Riddell and her team for ways to get involved.

Spiritual Formation

Spirituality is simply the capacity for a spiritual life – the human capacity to receive, reflect, and respond to the Spirit of God.  Spirituality points to a path – to choices of belief, value commitments, patterns of life, and practices of faith that allow Christ to be formed in us.

Walking the Labyrinth, Silent Retreats and overnight Silent Retreats, Family Table, Contemplative Services, Advent and Lenten Studies, and Weekly Lectio Divina prayer meetings are just some of the ways we seek grow in our spiritual walk with Christ. Check out our calendar for upcoming events.

Worship Opportunities & Music Ministry

Our goal at First Presbyterian is to glorify our Savior in worship and in song. We seek to do this in everything we do and we offer many avenues to worship and praise all that He has done for us.

Youth

As the youth of First Presbyterian, we seek to glorify God through outreach, worship, and fun activities.

It is our desire that others see Christ through our actions and words.

Congregational Nurture

The purpose of the Nurture Ministry Team is to nurture the members/prospective members of First Presbyterian Church. This includes Wednesday night dinners, special dinners, after church fellowship on Sundays, the Grief Ministry (which gives books to help cope with grief after the loss of a family member or friend), the Fall Festival, retreats and taking meals to shut-ins. We also provide visitors information about our church and strive to make all feel welcome as they worship with us.

Stewardship

The disciplines of stewardship and self-offering are a grateful response to God’s love for the world and self-giving in Jesus Christ. As Christians, we are called to lives of simplicity, generosity, hospitality, compassion, and care for creation. Tithing is a primary practice of Christian stewardship and self-offering. We are accountable to God for how we use our material goods, spiritual gifts, and time in God’s service. Visit our page to pledge your gift to FPC Huntsville.
